Morning
Get your bearings with a 20-minute helicopter ride over the city! If you want to venture further a field helicopter trips can also follow the Danube and pass over the many little downs and villages along the way.
Noon
Head to the beautiful Central Market and have lunch like a local at one of the many snack bars serving delicious traditional food and drink. Afterwards browse the wonderful array of produce, flowers and handicrafts on the stalls and pick up a gift or two including the famous sweet wine from Tokaji.
Afternoon
Visit the Buda Hills and take a ride on the 11-km ride Children’s Railway – a cogwheel railway that runs into the hills and is almost entirely operated by children (apart from the driver!). It is often called "the greatest child toy of the world," but it is not entirely true. Children aged 10-14-years control the traffic and commercial services, but strictly according to regulations the State Railways of Hungary.
Evening
Pancakes just like Grandma make them! Enjoy dinner at the lovely cosy Nagyi Palacsintázója restaurant and try some of their delicious pancakes with lots of different flavourings. Hungary is renowned for its own original take on the traditional pancake and they are worth the indulgence!
Morning
Explore your neighbourhood! Go to the local shop nearby your hotel, and have two normal white rolls and a chocolate drink out of the carton. Try the red dotted one Túró Rudi (search for it in the fridge) – just like the locals do!
Noon
Go for a beery lunch at the microbrewery underneath the Gerbeaud café at the Gerbeaud Pub Vörösmarty Square, accessed either through the café or via Dorottya Street. As well as serving great beer the menu is good with dishes such as baked Camembert, pikeperch, lots of goulashes and goose leg. Perfect for the cold weather!
Afternoon
Visit the Zwack Unicum Heritage Visitors' Centre in Budapest that tells the history of the famous Hungarian digestive. The Museum begins with a 20-minute film in English and ends with a tasting of Unicum and other Zwack products in the turn of the century tasting room. Be prepared – its strong stuff!
Evening
After all the sightseeing take a relaxing evening soak in one of the city spas? The Szechenyi Baths in the City Park are open until 10pm and are a wonderful place to bath in the steaming hot waters in the outside pools under the stars. Then take a tour around all of the indoor pools, trying the varying temperatures, before ending with a typical Hungarian massage. You will feel refreshed and ready to party!

Explore some of the capital’s caves. The most popular are the Szemlő-hegy and Pálvölgy caves, with their wonderful dripstone formations. And if you want to see yet more caves after this head to the Labyrinth in the Castle District for a tour of the underground caves and cellars.
Noon
Grab a snack on the go and head to Batthyány tér metro to catch the HÉV train to the pretty artists town of Szentendre on the Danube bend. The journey takes about 40 minutes by train and you could return by boat that leaves Szentendre at 17.15pm leaving you plenty of time to explore.
Afternoon
You only have to travel to Budapest to enjoy the special atmosphere of the tropics, as we have brought it here with the warm weather, the palm trees, the surf pool and the swirling water of the pools. In the centre of Pest lying in a hidden alleyway and up a concealed spiral staircase is a funky nightclub and lounge bar that lies behind the only English speaking theatre in Budapest, the Merlin Theatre. This really is a locals place and is a great place to find local and international DJs playing a variety of international music.
Morning
Start the day with an offbeat tour of the 8th district of Budapest with a ‘Budapest Beyond Sightseeing’ guided tours. One of the quirkiest guided tours in the city that will make you feel less like a tourist and more like a local!
Noon
Shoppers will love the Ecseri Flea Market, a long-established flea market that has been held at various locations in Budapest since the middle of the 19th century, slightly further out from the centre. The market is open all week, although serious shoppers should head down there on Saturday morning for the best chance of snapping up a bargain!
Afternoon
Spend the afternoon exploring one of Hungary’s smaller art galleries, NextArt that showcases contemporary art from some of Hungary’s best new talent. It’s a great place to visit to see a fascinating cultural interpretation of modern day Hungary from a new generation of artists. The gallery is in downtown Budapest, off the main tourist track, in a district with many other smaller galleries close by that are also worth visiting.
Evening
Enjoy dinner at the Café Callas, a traditional European "grand café" and bistro. At the turn of the 20th century, the famous Café Seemann operated on the site as a favourite rendezvous for opera and theatre-goers. Later a bank and then the Opera’s ticket office occupied the premises. Today Callas serves up top class dishes including fresh sushi and pastries and desserts made in Callas' own bakery, plus they have a great wine and cocktail list!
